Strapping and Filament Tapes

Strapping tape is used to bundle multiple items together, reinforce cartons, secure pallets, and hold heavy or oversized loads during shipping and storage. It's commonly used in warehousing, e-commerce fulfillment, manufacturing, and logistics operations where a strong, tear-resistant hold is required without the rigidity of steel or plastic strapping.

Strapping tape is also known as filament tape or fiberglass reinforced tape, named for the fiberglass or synthetic filament strands embedded in the adhesive backing. Some suppliers also refer to it as reinforced packing tape due to its added tensile strength compared to standard box-sealing tapes.

Packing tape, typically acrylic or hot-melt adhesive on BOPP film, is designed for sealing carton flaps and isn't intended to bear heavy loads. Strapping tape contains fiberglass or synthetic filaments for significantly higher tensile strength, making it suited for bundling, unitizing, and securing heavy items rather than just sealing boxes.

Filament tape and strapping tape are often used interchangeably, but filament tape typically refers to wider, more heavily reinforced rolls, such as 2in x 60yd fiberglass-reinforced tape, built for heavy-duty bundling, while lighter 0.5in strapping tape is used for lighter holding tasks like light bundling and carton reinforcement.

Filament tape is available in 2in x 60yd rolls, packed 24 rolls per case, while strapping tape comes in 0.5in x 60yd rolls, packed 72 rolls per case. Both are offered in a clear finish and can be ordered with a minimum of just one case, with volume discounts available for larger orders.
